 - Meadowdale High School and the Wilhelmsgymnasium began their partnership in in 2007 (prior to that, MHS had partnerships with two other schools spanning back to the 1990's).  Since 2007, there have been six full exchanges, with the seventh exchange scheduled for the Fall of 2018 - WG visit in Edmonds/Lynnwood -  and the Summer of 2019 - MHS visit in Kassel.
GAPP opens hearts, minds and borders by enabling cultural exchanges between schools in the US and Germany. Annually, about 9,000 students go abroad with a GAPP exchange. Our belief is that when travel is paired with community, truly incredible things can happen.
The German American Partnership Program is a network of school to school partnerships in the United States and Germany.  Partner schools organize short term - usually 3 to 4 weeks - student exchanges, generally every other year.  Participating students are matched with a partner from the other school and live with that student's family during their visit in the host country.  Then the hosting arrangement is reversed for the return visit. Some GAPP schools also arrange long term - 1 semester to 1 year - exchanges for individual students.
GAPP is promoted and financially supported by the German governmental PAD and by both the US Department of State and the US Congress.

PURPOSE OF GAPP - GAPP provides the opportunity for cross-cultural relationships and understandings - most participants develop life-long relationships with their GAPP friends - as well as providing the platform form tremendous growth and learning about the partner school's culture, language, family life, and school life.
